Welcome to Wifedom by mad-dame Welcome to Wifedom by mad-dame
This is the first image for my latest series that i am working on!!
Although there were a lot of awesome images from this shoot, this is the absoute strongest.
It represents everything that i have to say.

Mind you, all my work that i come up with is mostly sub-conciously inspired or dirives from personal experience.
i did not discover until post porduction that this whole body of work is a result from a past relationship and also these words said to me "I Can't wait to Own You" (in relation to marriage)

Please read my journal entry to further understand this project!

Thanks!

Welcome to Wifedom by ~mad-dame is a powerful idea especially with all the natural tragedies that have happened in the past few years. ( Suggested by asymons and Featured by Davenit )

A terrifying depiction of what awaits one in marriage... not fully accurate, or at least not for everyone, but at least the message here is clear: it won't be a bed of roses... more hurdles to overcome and repairs to do to get the whole thing viable. Very interesting!

Lol she turned out to be a psychobitch that tried to kill me on a daily basis. She never went out..didn't work..didn't go to school. Jus tstayed at the house and made messes on top of her old messes. Physically the place didn't actually fall down, but on a psychological level..yeah..it looked like that house.

Wonderful and powerfull concept! That is a brilliant idea and the results of it is brilliant too.

I think that the most striking aspect is not the ruined house, it is the fact that she seems dead.

It fits perfectly my own vision of mariage...

It's an awesome concept and the picture is pretty well taken. Very well done <3

The only problem I have is the woman's expression. She has a smile and it looks.. off- like it doesn't match the concept.

i love the image, its very striking, and i love your representation of the normal marriage undertaking..

i just recently got married, and so many people have already said "now you need to save up money!" and told my husband "are you going to get a better job, so you can provide for you kids in the future?" and lets not forget "where is the marriage license!??!?!"

I got married for so many reasons, but the main one being that my partner compliments me and shares in every task and undertaking and we support each other so fully in our personal experiences that it has made living without him a mere shadow of what life is with him..

i love this, i feel connected to it because it represents the death of the traditional marriage, and the birth of sharing your existence in this life with another human soul.. (atleast to me..)

this is beautiful! kudos to you!

ahh.. i like what you said.. yes! the death of tradiional values in marriage, cos most or all modern women know they do not need a man to be complete, or do no need to be married and it can finally be abotu some sort of love and partnership.

aww thanks for ur input!! look out for the rest of the series!!

A bold statement with a beautifully executed shot. I love the way the bride looks swept away by the romance of the moment, unaware of what she is about to enter into, while the man surveys his domain. Perhaps his confidence lies in the idea that he now has the perfect little wife-doll to clean up all of his messes?
Your comments relating this shot to personal experiences really resonated with me. I imagine most women have experienced something similar to a greater or lesser extent.
It's a bleak message, but unfortunately, sometimes it's the reality of the situation.

hey thanks a lot for your input!
i like ur interpretation "the bride looks swept away by the romance of the moment," i hadn't even considered any type of romance!!
but yes still not knowing what she is getting into.. esp. the wife-doll cleaning up bit!

This is absolutely stunning. Great colors, composition, and ideas behind the image. It makes me think a little of Gregory Crewdson, with a destroyed sort of... surreal background, and the lighting is just beautiful.
I can't wait to see more of this series! It's really refreshing to find a woman exploring these roles and ideas about womanhood and stereotypes.
